Bill Pinkney (15 de agosto de 1925 -4 de julio del 2007) componente de los míticos The Drifters ha fallecido,era el único miembro de la formación original vivo. Con los Drifters fue primer tenor primero,y grabó asi clásicos como "Money Honey",después sería ya el bajo y grabaria en la etapa con Clyde McPhatter de cantante principal temas como "Honey Love","Such a night" o "White Christmas" entre tantas canciones,que les llevaron al éxito en Atlantic,tanto en esta etapa como las siguientes con otros vocalistas como Ben E.King. Grabó temas como solista con la formación ("I should have done right") También grababa en solitario temas en Sun Records como "After the hop" Ha muerto de un infarto cuando iba a actuar con la formación que lideraba,The Original Drifters,en Daytona Beach.

PSYCHOMEETING

Acudimos el sábado al psychomeeting de Calella,y la verdad...me lo pasé de miedo. En palabras de los asistentes la mejor noche. Empezaron los Creepshow,con vocalista femenina al frente y presentando su nuevo disco...buen comienzo que precedió a los anglo-alemanes Phantom Rockers que tocaron temas propios como "We're Phantom Rockers" y dos versiones,"Tainted love" de Gloria Jones y "Rock this town" de Stray Cats. Y pronto en escena aparecia Levi Dexter,impecable,digamos que está criogenizado porque está igual que en los 70 que empezaba,secundado aqui por los tremendos The Caravans,y repasando temas como "Note from the south","althrough the nite","I get so excited"...grabados con los Ripchords y los Rockats...y buenas versiones como "Put your cat clothes on" de Carl Perkins, "Sixteen chicks" de Link Davis,"Let'er roll" de Sid King,"Slip slip slippin' in" de Eddie Bond,"Please give me something" de Bill Allen,"Hurricane" de Matchbox, "Slow down" de Larry Williams o "Lonesome train" y "Tear it up" del Johnny Burnette Trio. Lo mejor. Después entraron en escena los Frenzy del gran contrabajista Steve Whitehouse,repasando su trayectoria de 25 años con temas como "Clockwork toy","Hall of mirrors","Nobody's business" o el tan coreado por todos nosotros "I see red"...lo mejor la maestria de Whitehouse y los temazos que tocaron,lo peor la exagerada lección de tocar el contrabajo a base de mucho slapeo que nos hizo...pero tremendos Frenzy...y ya finalmente el espectáculo final de Mad Sin con la arrolladora personalidad de Köefte,enorne en todos los aspectos....repasando sus mejores discos con temas como "Point of no return" con que abrieron y luego siguiendo con "Riot in paradise","Communication breakdown"...y varias más en un concierto espectacular con traga fuegos,bengalas saliendo del luminoso contrabajo....un fin de fiesta alucinante.Un abrazo a Just for Fun y gracias por todo lo bien que lo pasamos.
